Oh, man, I LOVE birthdays! It's almost mine. Went to Johnny Carino's and ate entirely too much shrimp, chicken and penne pasta with spicy alfredo sauce. Oh, yeah...We spent the evening with a couple from church who wanted to treat me for my birthday. Did I remember to mention that it is the day before my birthday? Yes, the girls have already sung a great big happy version of "Happy Day Before Your Birthday To You!" *note*to really get the idea of this post and enjoy it properly, you must read in plenty of over the top giddiness*end note*.
I'll post more tomorrow and share about my birthday presents, some of which I have already received, and enjoyed. And of course appreciated.
God bless...

Upcoming Events at The Church of God at Winchester, KY
I realize that most of you out there are far enough away that you can't attend our local events, but here are a couple of things we've got going on that you can help us pray about...
Christmas Eve Service
We'll be having a special Christmas Eve Worship service beginning at 10 AM. It will last until approximately 11:15 AM. The plan as of now is to invite the public. Perhaps there will be some whose church is not planning a service, and maybe they will attend our service. We plan to have traditional Christmas hymns, read the Christmas story, and I will have a short message.
New Years Weekend
We have Revival scheduled fro Friday December 29, Saturday the 30th, and Sunday the 31st with Bishop David Risch. Sunday night will be a watch-night service to pray in the New Year. He and Sister Risch are always a blessing. They have been with us on New Years two times in the past, and are a wonderful blessing to the local church each time as well as a joy to have in our home. Their experience and wisdom is of great value to The Church of God, and great benefit to a younger pastoral family such as mine.
The Church of God at Winchester, KY First Annual Coat Drive
We've been working on this already for about a month and a half, but it is still in progress. Brother Terry Flora got in touch with the Family Resource Center at his sons school in Winchester, and they have many kids who come to school without a coat to wear. We are working to provide coats to help them supply for the children. We are also gathering adult sized coats and taking them to another place.
Free Hot Chocolate and Coffee at Local Christmas Parade
This has actually already happened. Last Saturday night we offered free hot chocolate and coffe to the people attending the local parade. The parade was great fun, but the best blessing was that we were able to serve over 120 cups of hot chocolate, and thirty or more cups of coffe. Plus I had a pocket full of candy canes for the young kids. And we had some cupcakes to hand out. People were so pleased that we were doing this as a service, and not for a profit like some others. The next day we had two visitors as a result. Plus two others who happened in from down the street. Such a blessing.

Newly Updated TCOG Website!!
The newly updated website of The Church of God was released 12/04/06. It looks great! The new design is so much more attractive than what we've been looking at for the last umpteen years. Very pretty, very easy to use. It's been a long time coming. I liked the photo's of the General staff and Overseers. At least I liked the fact that we have photo's of them. Handsome bunch, ain't they?
At any rate, it looks great, and I'm glad it's been updated.
For anyone who may not be familiar with The Church of God, the website can be found at
