Catch somebody in the act...

...of doing something good!!

Think about it. We hear all kinds of news every day of people doing horrible things. On the news we see it every day, and occasionally we'll see someone do a news item about a simple human interest story about someone doing something good, and it is treated as "fluff" and hardly considered newsworthy. Well, why not? Why isn't it newsworthy to find someone doing something good?
Well, I think it is. When we see a brother or sister doing something good, I don't see any reason we shouldn't put a hand on their back, and let them know we appreciate it. Watch it make their day. Feel it make yours. Give God the Glory!
Here's a little challenge...
Next time you are at church or at work, maybe at school, or even when you are at home, catch someone in the act of doing something good! Let them know they've been caught. Even though they are probably doing it because it is the right thing to do and not for the attention it could get them, I bet they'll appreciate that you noticed. Look for good things...think about good things!
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report: if there be any virtue, if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8
God bless you...

Great post Bro. Donnie. I was just thinking the other day about a news channel that would only report on the positive things that are happening.

God bless

I would watch. I realize that it is important to keep up with what is going on in the world, and that much of it is negative, but I really think that society craves negativity, thrives on it. The media are the ring leaders, I think. There was a time in my life when I thought I'd like to be a journalist, but I don't know anymore. I feel like we're all dangerously close to overdosing on negativity, and we really need to highlight some good news to get us through. And, hey, what could be better than the Good news of Jesus Christ?

That scripture has become one of my very favorite ones of late.

At our house we've taken to giving out "Hero Cards" when one of the kids does something truly praiseworthy--just kind and selfless without any thought of reward. It's amazing to see the appreciation of a kid who's been given credit for actually doing something GOOD. I dare say we adults would enjoy it, too!

That is great idea Sis. Horne. Too often it seems that kids mainly get attention only when they are doing something bad. The thought comes to mind of the little child just learning how to talk that is constantly saying "No" whenever asked any question.

Nice post, Brother Donnie, and I agree. However, there is only ONE post here on your site during the time I have traveled all the way to England and back! Are you okay? We had a wonderful trip to Ladies' Retreat in England and the Lord really blessed us. Two individuals were saved. Praise the Lord! God is doing marvelous things in The Church of God. We're getting good reports from all over the world concerning the work that is being done by our precious people and the blessings God is bestowing upon them. Praise be to God!
