So, I am blogging now...

Wow. We have had some major ordeal the last three weeks with my oldest daughter Haley. She, being all girly, and lady-like, thought it would be a good plan to climb the rail and jump off the deck rather than simply opening the gate which was ONE FOOT AWAY!!! Of course this was not the first time, but anywhooooo...she hurt her foot. We thought she had maybe sprained it. After a couple days of the swelling and pain getting worse we took her to the ER. The said no breaks, justa contusion near the growth plate, blah blah blah... We did all the things they said to do, but the swelling kept getting worse. Sometimes she would just suddenly shriek from the pain, even when sitting still with no weight on the foot. We were concerned, but she was supposed to follow up with her pediatrician after one week, so we took her in at the appointed time. Well, alby-dog, if she didn't have a staph infection! There had been no contusion, or it was minor. The fall is not necessarily even what caused her to be in pain initially. The doc thinks the staph got in through an open sore on her lower leg from a mosquito bite, possible when she was at the ER!(you do realize those places are filthy, right?)
Wel, anyways, the doctor decided it was only appropriate to completely traumatize us both, so he told us he would have to lance it. For those of you unfamiliar with medical terminology, that meas cut it open with a scalpel while the nurse and I hold down the screaming 8 year old. With no numbing by the way! I have never seen my Haley in so much pain, and hope never to have her in such a situation again. If she ever is, God forbid, I hope i can be beside her to hold her again, but seriously, I pray she never has another experience involving so much pain. He literally sliced her open, and began mashing the huge boiul with his hands and fingers to try and force all the pus out. It hurt her so bad, and she screamed and kicked and even reached for the guys neck a couple of times! Haley is so passive that this really surprised me, but it just shows how badly she was hurting. In my heart I felt like "If this guy is hurting my baby this much, I should be throwing him out the window, or something. But of course I knew it was to help get the awful infection out of her body.
Thank God it is not the strain called MRSA, or one of the others which are resistant to treatments. It is nearly gone, but the doc said today that he is afraid there may be some inflamation near the bone, so please pray for her. If it gets bad again she will have to go to the infectious disease doctors. We don't want that, and why should it come to that anyway if we pray and trust God. He can heal her! We'll be seeing the doc Monday he said, if it looks worse, but he said if it doesn't look worse, not to worry, she'll be fine.
It has been tough for her. She and her mommy and sister didn't get to attend church camp b/c of it. First time ever. I was so lonely without them. More on camp later...gotta run.
