New General Overseer

I guess by now the news is pretty well out. Brother Stephen Smith has been selected as General Overseer to serve until the General Assembly at which time we will go before the Lord to find His perfect will. Will Brother Smith be named General Overseer at the General Assembly? We all probably have our opinions, and perhaps it is likely he will. The fact is, not one of us knows for sure, withunless we have received some kind of an insight from God, through the Holy Ghost
I am sure that like everything else that happens these days in the church, this will be pondered, considered, debated, and just carried on about in general for the next several months. There will be some who speak in favor of the man, perhaps some who speak against the choice, but in the end what matters is what does God say? I am glad the Presbytery meeting is behind us, and glad that there is a selection. I think it is a good selection. But At the General Assembly, I want to hear very little of our opinions, and a great lot of weeping and crying out to God until we hear from Him, either "This is the man." or "This is not him, I have chosen another."
As far as I'm concerned, Brother Smith is a fine man who I believe loves God, and The Church of God. I have held him in high regard for years. I am certainly ready at this point to work with him as we prepare for the upcoming General Assembly. In preparation for this Assembly, we all need to be about the work of preparing our hearts to hear from Heaven. We must get the mind of God. If God confirms Brother Smith to be the General Overseer at the General Assembly, I will be ready and excited to work with him from then on, as well.
God bless you all. I am praying for you...

Bro. Donnie,

I agree. I respect Bro. Smith greatly and am happy to have him as overseer right now, and however long God wants that.

But we need to try to get our own ideas out the way and really pray between now and the assembly that we can know God's Will.

Amen, Sister...
The only voice that truly matters when it is all said and done is the voice of God. Christ must have preeminence, the Holy Ghost must have control! God's will must be done.
I've already begun asking God to help me get my own feelings completely out of the way, and to let His will replace my own.
God bless you,
Brother Donnie

Remember one thing brother, messages and interpretations are not how the General Assembly makes decisions or at least shouldn't be.

Hey, Brother...
I appreciate your comment, but I am not quite sure where you are coming from. I said nothing about message and interpretation. I have now read and reread the original post to try and figure out what you mean. It seems you are construeing (maybe misconstrueing?) a statement I made about hearing from God. I stand by the statement. I do want to hear from God about who is to be the next General Overseer, be it Brother Smith or another.
Again, let me say that I stand by the Presbytery selection of Brother Stephen Smith as General Overseer. If we can at the Assembly say "...i seemed good to us, and to the Holy Ghost...", then I will be thrilled to serve under a man who I believe to be a fine man of God, be it Brother Smith, or another.
God bless you, Brother...

Please forgive me then brother. I took this comment on your blog "But At the General Assembly, I want to hear very little of our opinions, and a great lot of weeping and crying out to God until we hear from Him, either "This is the man." or "This is not him, I have chosen another." to mean a message and interpretation. I guess the "until we hear from Him," really made me think this. Again, please forgive me.

Nothing to forgive, brother. I was not offended. I can see how you might read that into the statement. Please forgive me if I was a little strong in my response. I have that tendency sometimes, but I'm working on it.
My intention was simply to say that I think the single most important voice is the voice of God. I believe we need to get in the mindset to hear from Him. God is very capable of speaking to His people in our hearts without ever having to utter a word through message and interpretation. He can very quietly, very simply speak to our hearts and minds and leave us with no doubt as to what His will is. Or He can speak through message and interpretaion if He so desires. I simply want us all to work at getting our hearts in tune with Him.
God bless you, Brother Danny. Sorry for any misunderstanding...
